Sona Creative Marketing gets social

Jo Blackburn at Sona Creative Marketing is a very busy girl. She’s been working hard on some special Get Social workshops. They are progressing well, and she’s getting a lot of interest from them. Indeed, working on those should take up most of her time leading up to Chrimbo!

Other than that, Jo has just won the York St John Enterprise Awards for her pitch regarding the aforementioned workshops. The York Association Of Business Angels hosted an event at York’s Enterprise Day last week, and people where pitching for investment – there was a prize for the best pitch and Jo won. “I got a new laptop and some money towards marketing and online training – it’s been a great help.”

What are Jo’s key tips to winning a pitch, then? “I would say that knowing what you’re asking for, and who you are talking to always helps,” she smiles. “If you’re going for an investment, you need to ask yourself, ‘what am I going to do with it?’ and ‘how will it help what I have done so far?’ – this will help you when it comes to answering the judge’s questions clearly.”

On top of that, Jo is also launching a social media campaign at the moment for one of her clients whereby users are going to be able to select the next flavour of ice-cream (from that brand). Cool (pun intended). There will also be two articles of Jo’s in Yorkshire Life magazine in the December ’12 and January ’13 issues, and they are based around a restaurant client of Sona.
